The CSCI Flow Cytometry Institutional Core Facility is a comprehensive flow cytometry shared resource lab that offers the Columbia University community and external users access to high-end flow cytometry, cell sorting, and complementary instrumentation.
Our core facility is home to the following instruments:
A 5-laser, 147 channel Sony ID7000 Spectral Flow Cytometer
Two 32-parameter NovoCyte Penteon cell analyzers
A 27-parameter NovoCyte Quanteon cell analyzer
A 12-parameter Luminex ImageStreamX MkII imaging cytometer
10x Genomics pipeline, in partnership with the Columbia Genome Center Single Cell Analysis Core for GEM encapsulation and cDNA generation from single cells
Bio-Rad CFX Opus Real-Time PCR Systems
We offer both assisted and self-service sorting and a full training program for the flow cytometer analyzers and the flow cytometer sorters.
CSCI Flow Cytometry also offers technical assistance for experimental design, troubleshooting and data analysis to support users during the entire process of a flow cytometry experiment.

TRAINING
All users who expect to regularly utilize the core are encouraged to be trained on the instrument they plan to use. Please contact the core facility (mdk2108@cumc.columbia.edu) and submit an iLab Training Request under the [Request Services] for the instrument you plan to use.
CSCI Flow Cytometry staff is available to assist with experimental design and data analysis, through this service. The following specific services are provided:

The rate for experimental design and data analysis consultations is $85/hour.

BD FlowJo flow cytometry data analysis software can be accessed by obtaining a license to FlowJo Access Portal. FlowJo Access Portal allows you to use both FlowJo 10 and FlowJo 11.
You can register up to four devices using a single FlowJo Access Portal Account. However, you are only able to use one device at a time. If necessary, you can remove a device from your account to add an additional one, but you can only perform this action a limited number of times.
Columbia University maintain an institutional site license to FlowJo Access Portal which allows us to obtain very competitive pricing.
Our site license is renewed on 3/1 each year, and all users must request a renewal in order to maintain access to FlowJo. Please note that FlowJo licenses are billed only once per year, and we are unable to pro-rate charges.
The cost for a FlowJo Access Portal license is $240 per year.
Registration. After your request has been processed, you will receive an invitation email from FlowJo that will guide you through the creation of your FlowJo Portal account. Follow the instructions in the invitation email to activate your Portal account.
NovoCyte Flow Cytometer Training consists of one 2-hour on-instrument session.
Training sessions are held every Tuesday from 10 AM - 12 PM on the NovoCyte Penteon "Saturn" instrument in VP&S 11501 (Flow Cytometry Core Annex). After this training session, attendees will be able to book time on any NovoCyte under the Indpendent Usage type.
Core facility staff will prepare a 6-color panel for training, and all attendees will be provided printed materials that they can keep for future reference.
Up to three lab members are welcome to a training session, and only one request needs to be submitted per session (individual attendees do not need to submit separate requests).
