Skin Immunity, Integrity and Disease/SIND (Dermatology)

Overview of Services

The overall goal of the epiCURE Skin Immunity, Integrity and Disease (SIND) Core is to provide high-quality, skin-focused, translational research.  To help accomplish this goal, the SIND will provide a wide array of unique mouse and human ex vivo models and state-of-the-art techniques to aid epiCURE's investigators' research of normal and diseased skin; this includes assistance with (i) innovative techniques to phenotype skin resident T cell populations and inflammatory response, (ii) molecular profiling and cellular imaging of cutaneous photodamage, (iii) in vivo and ex vivo modeling of Alopecia Areata (AA, a common autoimmune disease), and (iv) high-throughput genetic and chemical screens.  The SIND's pre-clinical skin models and service will have particular value in exploring possible drug repurposing and testing therapeutic agents
